Philippe Andre is an international director with a unique talent for balancing memorable performances, original art direction, and stunning special effects. His initial foray into directing began at film school in Paris making music documentaries, which later led to video commissions for the Museum of Modern Art and The Centre Pompidou. His music videos have screened at the American Cinémathèque in Hollywood and have won many awards, like the Victoire de la Musique (Paris), the Cad’s, Brit’s and Mobo’s (UK).
In commercials, Philippe is a multi-awarded director (Cannes Lions, International Festival of Creativity, London International Advertising Awards, and New York Festival TV Advertising Awards, D&AD, BTAA Craft Awards, Clio Awards, Eurobest, Ciclop). His Peugeot 407 “Toys” spot won twenty international awards and was the fourth most awarded spot in the world in the Gunn Report. He has also directed spots for Playstation, Orange, Dell, Guinness, Samsung. Nissan, BMW amongst others. Philippe’s Christmas spot for Marks and Spencer, “Follow the Fairies”, was voted best Christmas ad of 2014 by Campaign readers. His spot for Lycra, “Lycra Moves You”, was awarded a Pencil at the D&AD Awards, 2015, and a Silver Award for Best CGI at the BTAA Craft Awards, 2014. Laura_jsd90, for the Feminist Collective against Rape was awarded Silver Award for best casting at the Cristal Awards, Bronze for best Script at Eurobest, and Bronze for Performance and Casting at the London International Awards.
Philippe’s short film, “Delicate Gravity”, released at the Cannes Film Festival 2013, earned Jury Awards and the Best of Festival Award at the Palm Springs International ShortFest and was shortlisted at the academy awards for the Oscars 2014. In 2015, Philippe directed Everything’s Perfect, segment of the « 25X25 Saatchi&Saatchi Showcase: An Experiment in Film ». It has been screened at the MoMA in New York, at the Tate Modern in London, and the BFI (British Film Institute) with a world premiere at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Philippe has also co-written two English-language features: “The Briefest Second” and “Starless”, currently in development.
