Chief Creative Officer
60layersofcake.com
Netherlands
2006 - 2019 (13 years)
I hold this role since 2006 when I co-founded 60 layers of cake and penned down the work methodology of "collaborative communication". In a way its 2 roles into one. I spend 30% of my time as a CCO for 60 layers of cake, guiding the teams on client projects and pitches. My other 70% I spend as a creative business consultant/creative director for other companies. In this role, I supported brands and agencies all over the world. On short term pitches or high-end projects. Or to support them in a transitional/change period. In this capacity, I worked with ADK in Tokyo, MullenLowe and BPG/Bates in Dubai, Instinct/BBDO in Moscow. Triple Two in Doha and the Jupiter Drawing Room in Capetown. And a few brands and agencies in Holland.

Chairman (2018)
Given the developments ahead and after good consult with the rest of the partners, I decided to step down from my role as CCO and make room for the the other creatives and ECD to lead the creative team. As co-founder I will stay connected to 60 layers of cake as chairman. There are exciting new things waiting for me in the near future.

After a fruitful test project run from out Amsterdam on a large pitch we agreed to jump over to Dubai and join the local team as ECD. From this role I will reinforce the creative floor and help them raise the creative product on brands like Harvey Nichols, Red Bull, Axe, Nutella, Tic Tac, City Centre, Pizza Hut and more. Off to a good start with 5 wins at the Lynx including 2 gold. A very exciting assignment for me and 60 layers of cake.

I was asked to join the BPG (Bates Pan Golf) network by Nick Clements the CEO. A very energetic and inspiring agency leader. After working in Asia, Africa and Russia the Middle East was, and still is, high on my wish list of location to work. I made some new friends, and learned a lot. And Dubai left love inside me for ever. But at that time and place it was not the right moment to push further. I want to thank everyone at BPG, and especially Nick and Kevin for the great experience. And I am sure we will see each other again in the future.

Joined the Havas Worldwide network after meeting the Havas Digital Moscow team. I truly love the vibe of this network, and the international changes it provides me. Together with Rob van Beek, our CEO for the Amsterdam office, we are building further on the great agency it already is. Aiming to have the European offices collaborate more, fitting the vision I created with 60 layers of cake now over 7 years ago. The future in collaborative, you are what you share.

Art Director
Amstelveen, Netherlands
2000 - 2002 (2 years)
After a sabbatical and winning 2 Cannes Lions and some other stuff, Theo Doyer and I where asked to work at DDB. Witch was a great change, we learned a lot. We learned that we didn’t want to work in such a large company. And the fact that the management didn’t support me when my girlfriend and unborn baby almost died in the hospital, in fact they sent me a letter asking me to deliver better work, made us decide to leave the company.

Moved here together with Alwin Keeris. We where a great team. May be even the best team i ever been in. But still we could not make it work, witch I still regret. We got our names in the yearbooks, but we could have got a lot further. Looking back, at that time, the whole company was filled with talent and people that are now "up there" or won loads of awards, Alwin, Jeroen van der Sluis, Pim van Nunen, Harry Puts, Gerard van der Hart, Rob en Maurice, Sikko Gerkema, Martin Cornelissen to name a few. Somehow we didn’t got it together at that moment in time.
Assistant to junior art director.

Amazing 4 years. Started as Apple wizz kidd helping the art directors to get their shit together, and classes at the Rietveld and HKU in the night time. Young hard working man. MD Greet Prins showed my portfolio to Wim Ubachs without saying it was mine. "i want to hire this guy" Wim sad, he already works here, Greet replied. Next thing i know i was working with Zwier Veldhoen. These years i will never forget. Thanks everyone who was there.
