Experience covers support and leadership roles in local and national cross-platform news organizations, but primarily in online-focused newsrooms that work closely with other platforms. Have spent seven years as a leading contributor and manager of several email newsletter products, developing a keen understanding of their strengths and how to help them succeed, using a combination of audience stewardship and a growing emphasis on data analytics and visualization tools.
Through a multidisciplinary education and work experience, I've trained in a range of media that includes online video, radio broadcasting and podcasts, photography, graphic design and publishing.
In school, I was interested in emerging technology and trends in media industries, particularly in online media, and finding new ways to utilize video, graphic and interactive content to tell news stories, educate the public and engage audiences. That's still an interest, but after years of planning content and learning about audiences, that has been coupled with using analytics and audience insights to understand how more traditional things – like how a headline is written, the platform a story is shared on and the reporting work a writer puts in – impact how a story gets seen by the audience that needs to see it most.
