Freddy Montero Galva is a Creative Director and Art Director from the Dominican Republic with over 17 years of experience in advertising. He graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) and was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate of the Advertising School in its 23rd anniversary (2023).
Throughout his career, Freddy has worked at renowned agencies, starting at Pagés BBDO, the most awarded agency in the country, where he spent six years as Senior Art Director on the top-performing team. During this time, he earned more than 40 awards at international creative festivals, including Cannes Lions, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, FIAP, El Sol, Wave Festival Brazil, Festival Volcán in Costa Rica, Festival Caribe Panama, and Festival Antigua Jade
in Guatemala. He also won several pitch competitions, including one for Ron Brugal, one of the most iconic companies in the Dominican Republic.
He later joined Ogilvy Dominicana as Creative Director, where he worked for two years. There, he was part of the team that won the first-ever Cannes Lions in the agency’s history and earned three Gold and one Silver Effie Awards. They also won the first Gold and Silver at El Ojo de Iberoamérica. Freddy’s leadership at Ogilvy was crucial in securing multiple pitch wins, further strengthening the agency’s creative reputation and attracting new clients.
Afterward, he moved to Cazar DDB as Creative Director, where, alongside his team, they propelled the agency to be recognized as one of the most creative and effective in the country. During this period, they achieved the agency’s first-ever Effie Awards nomination, winning four accolades including a Gold, two Silvers, and a Bronze in the agency’s 32-year history. The agency was also featured in the international magazine Lürzer’s Archive, appearing in several editions and earning the distinction of being among the 200 Best Digital Artists Worldwide for 2019-2020, 2021-2022, and 2023. The team won over four pitch competitions, solidifying both the agency and the country as a hub of creative excellence with international standards.
Freddy then joined Mullen Lowe Interamerica as the creative lead for one of the country’s top meat product brands.
Currently, Freddy works at Cazar3 Publicidad as Creative Director, and since his return, the agency has won its first Gold at the La Vara Award, one of the most prestigious festivals in Central America and the Caribbean, with a high-level jury from Latin America. Additionally, Freddy was part of the team that earned a Silver, a Bronze, and a finalist spot at the AdForum PHNX Awards, and has been recognized for the fourth time among the 200 Best Digital Artists Worldwide in Lürzer’s Archive.
Freddy is a co-founder of Brave Escuela de Ideas, a member of the La Vara Awards Committee and the Creative Committee of the Dominican Association of Commercial Communication Companies (ADECC). He has been a juror at numerous national and international advertising festivals, including Young Lions, Effie Awards Dominicana, PHNX Awards, Moscow International Advertising Festival, and El Sol Festival, among others.
He has also been a speaker at various forums and universities, sharing his vision on creativity in the digital age. He has spoken at events such as Expo Santo Domingo 2024,
Social Media Week Santo Domingo, and the MERCAD EXPO 2018 International Congress at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), among others.
Freddy has been involved in the creativity and strategy of brands such as Papa John’s Pizza, Quiznos, Krispy Kreme, Palacio del Cine, Kola-Real, Cool Heaven, AFP Popular, Banco Popular, Pfizer, Banco del Progreso, Yogen Früz, Helados Bon, Santo Domingo Motor, Chevrolet, Huggies, Jumbo, La Sirena, El Caribe, Vodka Stoli, Banco BHD, Arcor, Tropigas, Barceló, Brugal, Banco Caribe, Amway Dominicana, Café Santo Domingo, Induveca, and Caserío.
Many of these brands have been recognized and praised by magazines such as Top Brand, Mercado Magazine, and Factor de Éxito.
His freelance work has extended beyond the local market, having collaborated with international agencies like Area 23 - An FCB Health Company in New York and Theorem Creations in Las Vegas.
