Razvan Capanescu Interview(s)

What motivates you to be part of the PHNX Jury, and what do you hope to bring to the judging process?
The wealth of creative work, coming from all corners of our industry.
I've been fortunate enough to work in creative leadership roles for 20 years now, in 3 different markets and on quite a few global brands. As a juror, I think I can bring a very well calibrated radar for both brilliance and bullshit.
PHNX has always been about celebrating creativity in all its forms. What new perspectives or disciplines do you think deserve more recognition in award shows today?
Yes, I loved the way PHNX embraces all forms of creativity. And that's why I think the use of technology today (yes, I'm looking at you AI) deserves a bit more attention. It's the current technological revolution, we should have the maturity to look how it can be put to great use and teh craft level that can be achieved thanks to it.
Which countries or regions do you think are leading the creative field right now? And which emerging markets should we look out for?
US and UK are leading the creative field right now, followed closely by Europe, in my view.
I think South America and Asia we'll be the ones to look out for, as they need a come back.
What trends or cultural shifts do you think will define the most impactful creative work this year?
We witness the come back of humour last year, I believe we'll see even more of that. And of course, as everyone would'd expect, we'll see two big approaches coming through: crafting stuff with AI and "proudly declaring this work AI free".
If you could give one piece of advice to agencies and creatives submitting their work, what would it be?
Try to keep it to the point and if you're doing a case study film, try to feature most of your own work in there. I believe the whole industry is tired by now of case studies that are great films, but have very little to do with the actual piece of work that ran.
Which creative minds are inspiring you the most right now?
The teams over at Uncommon and Mother are most inspiring for me. Their unwavering commitment to creativity is very stimulating for all of us.
My colleagues over at The Brandtech Group training technology (AI these days) to become a creative ninja are a daily source of inspiration for me as well.
