| Brief | Catching the World Cup moment to draw global attention to Russian shelter dogs.Russia leads the world in the population of homeless dogs. In the run-up to big sport events massive numbers of them are caught and taken to shelters which means literally doomed.In summer 2018, when the attention of billions of people was drawn to the World Cup in Russia, we caught this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to flag up the issue and give friendly support for as many shelter dogs as possible.Launching a global campaign BeFriend, we called the attention of the whole world to our problem through a heartfelt online video, social media activities, influencers’ support, global media coverage and a specially developed web-site, offering a variety of simple ways to support shelter dogs.The result of this extensive social advertising campaign was raising the awareness about the problem and 200% increase number of adopted animals (vs the same period in 2017).
