Mary Dauterman is a director and multidisciplinary artist.
Her work looks to draw humor out of the mundane while maintaining a sense of oddball, graphic style. Mary is passionate about making films as beautiful as they are hilarious, and as relatable as they are surprising. Prior to directing, she worked as an art director at award-winning agencies Droga5, Wieden Kennedy, and CP+B, and was recognized as one of Business Insider’s most Creative Women in advertising.Mary is currently in post production on her first short and in development for a female-driven animated series.
Alongside film, she continues to work in a variety of mediums, creating web experiences, inventing joke products (the sold out Tortilla Towel!), and writing/illustrating books (most recently, What Are We Even Doing with Our Lives, Harper Collins 2017). Her films and projects have been recognized by The Webbies, The Cannes Lions, The New York Times, NPR, Booooooom, Vice, CNN, and No Budge.
Mary is originally from Texas, attended the University of Texas in Austin, and
