Rob Sax joined Planet in 1997 with no presidential aspirations (Planet had no president at the time). Nor did he aspire to total domination of the Planet ping-pong table (though Planet did have a table at the time). But in 2002, six years into his Planet tenure, Sax achieved both milestones. Neither accomplishment was much of a stretch for Sax, who has a history of both leadership (Leadership Greater Madison alum, various community board memberships) and dubious athletic distinctions (MTV Spring Break ?88 Limbo Champion).
Sax also brings to the table a strong analytical bent. His extensive background in qualitative research and focus group moderation provides a results-oriented complement to Planet?s creative muscle.
Before assuming his role as company president, Sax managed a variety of brands for Planet, including Rollerblade, Prince Tennis, Adams Outdoor, and Gary Fisher Bicycles. Sax, who holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin?Madison, is a regular speaker on various marketing, branding, and paddle sport-related topics.
